OL2000 SP3: adding a contact from a message received is not workable?

Danny Tay

Hi,

I am running MS Outlook 2000 _SP3 on WinXP Pro.

I am trying to retrieve the email addresses of mail I receive so that it is
auotmatically filled in into my new Contacts folder rather than my manually
having to type each new contact address in.

In the Microsoft Office Offline help available online, it says that to add a
contact from a message I have to take the following steps:

In the open e-mail message or meeting request, in the From, To or Cc field,
right-click the name you want to add to Contacts, and then click Add to
Contacts on the shortcut menu.
When the entry for the contact opens, the name and e-mail address are filled
in for you. If you want, add any other information for the contact.
Click the Save and Close button on the toolbar.

Problem for me is:
----------------------------
When I open the email message & right-click the name to add, there is not
such option as "Add to Contacts" available in the shortcut menu.
I am confused as to why this is so...

Can any experts out there help please?

Thanks
Danny TAY

Read your own post.
See where it says, "In the open e-mail message or meeting request, in the
From, To or Cc field?"

The options you posted are for an unopened message. Open the message.

For an "opened message" received by Outlook2000 directly from the Mail
Server, the "Add to Contacts" option does appear. But for all the remaining
messages which were previously imported from Outlook Express6, that "Add to
Contact" option is not available.

I guess that the difference... there is not a full compatibility with the
improted OE6 mail.

p.s.- 99.9999% of the mail I now have in Outlook2000 was imported from
OE6.
