OL XP email filters won't clear

Hi, everybody!

I would be vey grateful if someone could figure this out.
I'm beginning to think that my computer is possessed.

I'm running OL XP on a Win 98SE platform. I used email
filters one time to find a specific message from someone.
(View -> Current View -> Customize Current View -> Filter)

Next, I tried to clear all of the filters using the
instructions from the Help file. (View -> Current View ->
Customize Current View -> Filter -> Clear All -> OK -> OK)

I then noticed that most of my email had disappeared, and
on a closer look, found that the filter I had used earlier
did not clear. I then repeated the "clear" procedure
several more times, and my email magically reappeared!

Now, when I start Outlook, I find that my original email
filter recurs, and if I repeat the "clear" procedure, the
original email filter will immediately disappear, then
reappear in several minutes, for no explainable reason!

I am getting very frustrated at this situation! Is there
any way I can eliminate this? I can be reached at
(e-mail address removed).

Have you tried resetting that view completely? View | Current View | Define
Views, select the view and press Reset.
