OL 2003 hangs on exit

OL 2003 will hang on exit when using an exchange 2000
account. If OL is just using POP3 it closes fine, but as
soon as there's an Exchange mailbox added or a new profile
with an exchange mailbox, it won't close properly. I have
to end the task manually. The user's computer is not
connected to the domain and uses a VPN to connect. I tried
uninstalling, reinstalling, /noextensions switch.

How large is their exchange mailbox? File size(exchange
size or pst's) can many times be the dependent factor in
Outlook for hangups/freezing
