Can't Create New Outlook 2003 Data File

I installed OL 2007, then uninstalled and reinstalled OL 2003. We use
exchange, so I can use the public folders and my mailbox folders. But
if I try to open an old pst file, OL crashes. Also, if I try to
create a new pst file, there is no choice of the type of file to
create, and so I can't create a new file.

Try creating a new mail profile first. ALso run the Inbox Repair Tool
(SCANPST) on the PST.

Thanks! I've tried this but without success. I can't create a new
profile because there is no pst file associated with it, and it
prompts me a new file which it can't create. I think this will help
you diagnose - if I try to create a new pst file, it brings up a
dialogue asking what type of storage I want to create, and that list
is totally blank and the ok box is greyed out. It seems like there is
some component that did not install with Outlook.

Uninstall Office completely, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
(http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;290301), and then reinstall.
See if that helps.

I did that and it worked. Actually, what I did was uninstall OL 2003
only. Then, the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility showed that there
was an install of OL 2007 still on there. I deleted that, and then
reinstalled OL 2003, and all worked. Thanks!

Good news. You're welcome.
