We have Exchange 2000 Server, and I just got a new system
with XP Pro and Outlook 2002. I have several "personal'
Email accounts defined as POP/SMTP entries, but the
Exchange entry is the Default.

When I try to Reply to a message received in one of my
personal accounts, I get a "550 authentication required"
error. I usually get the same result when I try
Forwarding a message to an outside address. However, if I
open a new message and send to that same outside address,
it goes fine.

One other note - when I try the Test Account Settings
button in the Internet E-mail Accounts (POP3) window, I
get an error that says, "Send test e-mail message: Unable
to send test message. Please verify the E-mail Address
field." All of my addresses and other fields are set
correctly, and none of this was a problem under Outlook
98 and Windows 98.

Any suggestions?

Set your server properties to authenticate.

Thanks, but that's a little brief. Where to set that
property? I tried checking the "Log on using Secure
Password Authentication (SPA)" box, but that just
generated a new error when I tried the Test Account
Settings button: "Log onto incoming mail server (POP3):
The POP3 e-mail account you created does not support
Secure Password Authentication (SPA). In the Internet E-
mai Setting (POP3) wizard dialog box, clear the 'Log on
using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)' check box."

Am I in the wrong place?

Oops! Never mind - I found the one you were apparently
referring to. It's on the Outgoing Server tab accessed
from the More Settings... button. I check the "My
outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and
everythign cleared up.

Thanks for the assistance.

I am having the same problem plus when I attempt to open MSN Hotmail emails Outlook crashs. Has anyone responded to your question?

Hi - you haven't included the original message, so I don't think anyone is
likely to know what you're talking about. Please repost with more details.
