OL '03 rules problem

J

Jim

I use Outlook 2003 pro with Exchange, and deliver all of
my mails into a local pst file. I have several rules
setup to move mails into sub-folders of my Personal
Folder and to prompt me if I recieve messages from
certain people.

Recently these rules have stopped processing when new
items are recieved. I recieve the item, and I can run the
rules and they work fine. Hitting F9 or doing a
send/recieve, checks for new items and processes the
rules - but I want this to occur automatically. This has
worked in the past.

I am running in online or connected mode with Exchange
5.5, using Word 2003 as my default editor and my pst is
230Mb.

Any suggestions?

It is a likely suspect since there is one other person that posted a similar
thread to this a few days ago. I figured the rule(s) where not operating
because it is more of a move operation from Exchange/Inbox to PST/Inbox
rather than a true "new" mail situation.

Out of curiosity, did you try unchecking a rule, select ok/apply and then
re-enable it to see if start working?

Thanks Neo,
I didn't find the previous post about this. I had tried
that yes, I think the next thing is to remove all rules
and re-apply them from scratch.

Before doing that, I just have to ask. Is the default delivery location the
PST or Exchange mailbox. If PST, what happens if you switch back to
Exchange mailbox as the default delivery location and inactivate/reactivate
the rules?

At the moment the default mail delivery location is the
PST. If I change it back to Exchange mailbox, the rules
appear to work straight away as expected...
