Okay - fax settings - do they really exist?

Needless to say - I can't find em'. Nor can my lil' Search Wizard. He
probably thinks, justifyably so, I'm an idiot. My problem is that, #1. I
don't even want, own, or secret a fax. #2. Anytime that I am on my PC I am
not able to receive any personal phone calls. The PC or the modem interprets
all calls as a incoming fax. Family & friends have stopped calling, by
request, until I can figure out what-tha... has happened!
I have had Caller ID and Call Waiting features recently added to my phone
service and accordingly I edited the IE dialing rules to block the Caller ID
feature for when I actually do go on line.
So, if there is a way to locate these settings to correct or at least
eliminate the settings as the cause - I'm all ears!
I just know it is going to be embarrassing learning the answer.

Click START button|ACCESSORIES|COMMUNICATIONS|FAX|FAX CONSOLE

Click the TOOLS menu|FAX PRINTER CONFIGURATION

Click the DEVICES tab, then the PROPERTIES button

Click the RECEIVE tab, then UNcheck the "enable received" box

OK your way out of the dialog boxes, then reboot
