ok to delete earlier Java updates?

On my Windows 2000 system, I have just updated the Java J2SE Runtime
Environment 5.0 with update 9. Is it ok to delete the earlier update 6?
I could use the disk space.

Yes, through the Control Panel applet; "Add/Remove Programs".
