Java updates, keep old ones?

I've got Java "J2SE Runtime Environment" on my XP Media Center with all
updates.
It seems like my PC is keeping all the old Java updates.
That is I have 5.010, 5.150, 6.919 and finally 9.119
Is there a reason not to remove the earlier updates, and just keep 9.119,
the latest?

Its only neccessary to keep older versions if you have a java app that will
only run with a specific version, otherwise uninstall them

When you install a new update to Java SE (the latest is 6 update 3) it does
not automatically uninstall the older versions. You have to do it yourself
manually using Add/Remove Programs. Download the latest JRE here :
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp . After installing uninstall
all your other versions.
