I have an Acer Travelmate 2350 and the sound is absolutely messed up!
When I try and play tracks the sound quality is terrible. There is
severe crackling and it jumping and freezing - Any idea's?

Thanks.

Do you have a low-budget Creative Sound Card in the machine?
Does any movement by your mouse disturb the smooth audio playback tranquility?
Is it Windows, or is it a crappy sound card? Hmmm, hard to tell.

the sound quality is usualy atributed to the standard bad quality of the
speakers installed in most laptops, it my also be an issue with you'r sound
card, the freezing and jumping aswell, i would sugest contacting ACER or the
place you purchased the laptop from if you are still within warranty, Data
from you're harddrive is usualy sent to the ram modules for current use and
procesed trogh the cpu to the soundcard outputing it to the speakers

insufficient ram but most probably overusage of the cpu by to many runing
processes may be the cause of the skipping and freezing, the sound card will
probably be the cause of the poor quality the sound is coming trough with,
its not a software problem as much as it is a hardware problem

What's God got to do with your question? Come on,
man, think of a reasonable Subject line! How about
something descriptive like "Bad Sound Quality"?

I don't see an Acer Travelmate 2350 on the Acer website.
Irregardless, I'd re-install the audio driver.

Then he needs to go to a church, as God doesn't hang out here or respond in
all my years in these newsgroups ;-)

I'm not sure about that -- there are several "gods"
here ---- well at least *they* think they are "gods" ...

I had the same problem with an Acer Aspire 3003WLMi, after contacting
Acer Helpdesk 3 times, and doing as they advised, uninstall and re load
drivers 3 times, I finally told them enough is enough, Acer helpdesk
then issued me a works order, puter was sent back to Acer and they
installed updated bios, problem solved, suggest you consider doing the same.
Good luck.

That most recent BIOS update is SOOOO OLD that there is no way it will fix the
soundcard.

BTW, I'm having similar problems on a WIN XP Home machine (Dell Dimension 4300
desktop machine from 2001, with 512 MB RAM and a 1.6 Ghz P4) while using JAWS 7
(a speech program), but I'm hoping the Creative Value LIVE! sound card from 1999
is the problem...the chip is too damn old in it. Maybe getting an M-Audio
Audiophile 2496 card for $100 will solve the problem? OR, it's time to trade in
for a dual-core machine!
