Offsets

When I import a single image as a background in several slides in the same
deck, sometimes the offsets are changed, sometimes they are not. Any ideas
why? It is fairly annoying to have to wait and see if the offsets are changed
for every instance of importing the same image before clicking "close."

Also, there is the "apply to all" button but not an "apply to selection"
button for the importing image as background dialog box. This second option
would be useful when creating a PPT with sections - each section having a
different theme/background. My workaround is to make several PowerPoints, one
for each section, applying to all for each section then joining them. Again,
annoying, partially because of the fact that PowerPoint, unlike Word refuses
to open in separate instances - so even though I have dual monitors, they are
still stacked instead of being able to compare two decks side-by-side.

A long rant I know, but the offsets thing is really bugging me. i have all
autofit options I can locate turned firmly off.

Depending on which version of PowerPoint you are using, you should choose an
approach:

PowerPoint 2002 and 2003: Use multiple masters to insert different
backgrounds on each slide master (or a set of slide master and title
master). Then apply those masters as required.

PowerPoint 2007: You can use the same approach as above, but PowerPoint 2007
also allows you to create multiple Slide Layouts within the same Slide
Master (and the Title Master is now a Slide Layout).
