Help, I'm in Tears! How to Bulk Remove or Replace Background Grap

I have over 300 PPT files with varous corporate background images that comply
with our old logos and branding style. I now need to replace (or at least
remove) all of the corporate background images... Our illustrious trainers
(these decks are used for training classes) have built each of these decks
with multiple background stylings...

I have searched until my fingers are numb, and I can't find ANY suggested
technique for doing a bulk replace for background slide images.. I would even
settle for simple removal! The 2007 version allows me to esaily "hide"
background images, but not save the files with the graphics removed.

Please, please, please, tell me I wont have to sort through 300 PPT decks
and manually find every background graphic style and replace it by hand.

Hoping... Praying... Anyone?

In order to get a better handle on the scope of this project ...
Are these training presentations in a central folder or scattered across
your network?
Other than appearance, is there anything that holds true across all the
logos (size, location, etc.)?
Are all of them saved in PPT 2007 format, or a mix of 2000, 2002, 2003,
and 2007?
Are you given a budget or a time frame for this project (or do they just
think it can happen)?
Are they (the boss) willing to be educated to the hidden costs of
re-branding?
