Offline Folder File Settings missing in Outlook 2003

I've been requested to enable OST file to a user with Outlook 2003 SP2.
When I go to Microsoft Exchange Server advanced properties, the button
Offline Folder File Settings is missing and the Use Cached Exchange Mode is
greyed out.
Previously in this computer was installed Outlook 2000.
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help

Is the site using policies to disable cached mode and/or offline folders?

The site is not affected by any policy. My computer, for instance, is working
properly.
The user reported me that the previous Office 2000 was uninstalled and
upgraded to Office 2003. Since then the user cannot enable the OST file.

Is there anything in the registry that can be set?

Policies are just that, registry settings. If the site went with a policy
to disable, try looking under:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0

I, too experienced just what this individual noted; even without any
restrictions/GPOs in-place, the upgrade to Outlook 2003 has REMOVED the
ability to use Offline Mode: I replaced the .ost file, etc., but the options
to enable Offline are greyed out (and some oblique reference to my perhaps be
running in Unicode <?!>.

Any insights would be appreciated!

The default could be set by MST etc. BUt I have been playing around with this
for a while we had a requirement. e.g. disabling it if MBX was in Exch 2K.
Slows down Outlook experience as it downloads full Addr book etc.

to Disable (grey Out)

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Cached
Mode]
"Enable"=dword:00000000

To enable (un-grey) cache mode try this.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\%USRPROF%\13dbb0c8aa05101a9bb000aa002fc45a]
"00036601"=hex:84,01,00,00

Hope this helps
