Offline Files - Win XP Pro

Bill

I created an offline folder on a laptop which is
connected to a desktop by a wireless (802.11g) network.
Initially everything seemed to work fine but then I
noticed that a large % of the offline files (on the
notebook) did not say 'File is synchronized' - but
rather 'Local copy is incomplete'. Neither a full
synchronization or a quick sync would change this
designation to 'File is sychronized'..

The offline folder was eliminated in order to start fresh
but the same thing occured - many of the files
showed 'Local copy is incomplete'. These files could not
be accessed if the notebook was taken off of the network.

MSKB has a reference to 'incomplete copy' but says a
quick sync or a full sync will solve the problem. Not in
my case.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Try Re-initializing the Offline Files cache. You do this using a super-secret key/click combination known to but a few. :) See MS KB article 230738:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=230738

This cured an odd synchonization problem that we saw on a Win2K machine, but it didn't cure a problem I'm seeing on my WinXP notebook. But I'll post that question separately.

Good Luck!
