Offline Folder Sync problem - can't get rid of old server reference

M

Mike Bailey

I have a some laptop users which use the Offline Folder Synchronization
and is set to sync during log on and log off. Recently, I replaced our
file server with a new one which has a new name. The users map to the
new server using the same drive letter as before and the share name of
the new server is the same as the old. Obviously, the next time the sync
tried to run, it failed because it could not find the old server.

I restarted the old server, remapped the drive to it, let the laptop
sync, then disabled the Offline Folders for the old drive mapping. Lets
say it was mapped to server \\old-serv1\myfiles.

I then turned the old server back off, remapped the same drive to the
new server: \\new-serv2\myfiles, and then enabled Offline Files for the
folder.

Now, when I tell it to sync, a message still comes up saying it can't
find the old server - \\old-serv1\myfiles.

I've searched the registry and removed any occurrence of the old server
name and still get the error.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct/fix this?

Thanks,
Mike Bailey
