Offline files problem

I am trying to get a new users offline files to syncronise on a clean built
laptop.

I have imaged a laptop with a known working image and the user's account and
profile has been created from scratch.

Basically, evertime I log on as user, Mydocs does not get flagged as an
offline file share and when you log off it does not attempt to sync. I have
tried reformatting the offline cache and also disconnected network cable and
then tried to create a file in the mydocs share but this is not possible -
normally you can do this and then reconnect the network cable and select
sycronise, restart laptop and then files are flagged as offline files.

I have also removed all user and computer policies and re-applied.

Any help would be appreciated!

Does the event log say any thing like folder redirection has been postponed
due to group policy optimization etc.. 9EVENT ID 401 or 301 in App log)
