hallo
is there anybod who knows how to change target local path of Offline
files ? I have looked everywhere but with no success. I need to specify
where to store on local station hdd Offline files, because some stations
have small system partition with users profiles and offline files make us
trouble with its size..

thanks

Depends on what program you're talking about. If you're
using Office, like Word and Excel, simply go to the tools
menu, choose options, click the General tab and change the
Default file location path name.

no
maybe my fault when searching for anser is this misunderstanding . I dont
think of anything like "outlook offline folders" and whatever else then
windows filesystem feature "Offline files". On 2000 and XP machines when
this feature is enabled, and you select any folder on server, you can choose
"Use this folder offline". Folde is copied to your local hdd and whenever
you are offline windows works automaticly with it and after connection it is
synchronized...

that is what I need to answer.

thanks

There's a W2k resource kit utility that will do this - I don't think it's
possible to change the local cache location without it.

Hi

Those files are located in %windir%\CSC (hidden folder).

Offline Files Database

To move it, you should use the tool cachemov.exe from the Win2k resource kit
(you need to buy it). Here is an applicable paragraph from MS TechNet:

Moving the Cache
The only way to safely move the hidden system folder (%systemroot%\CSC)
is by using the Offline Files Cache Mover (Cachemov.exe) tool available on
the Windows2000 Resource Kit companion CD. You can move the cache
database to another location on a fixed disk only.

Here is a workaround if you don't have the cachemov utility:

Hello:

The Resource Kit is not required to relocate the Client Side Cache folder.

If your Windows 2000 (or XP) partition is NTFS, try something like this:

1) Boot into Safe Mode and delete the contents of the CSC folder.

2) While still in Safe Mode, create a reparse point (junction) in the
%SystemRoot%\CSC folder and point it toward another partition or a folder in
another partition. Use the Logical Disk Manager (Computer
Management\Storage\Disk Management) to mount a partition or SysInternals
Junction
(http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/misc.shtml#junction) to
mount a folder.

This works in Windows 2000, and should in Windows XP (I haven't tested it,
however).

Hope this helps.
