OfficeXP Standard on Vista?

I am about to purchase a Gateway desktop with WindowsVista on it. I
would like to install OfficeXP Standard onto it (only the Word and
Excel components.) Does anyone here know whether OfficeXP Standard is
compatible with Vista, or do I have to purchase Office 2007? Thanks.

Word and Excel from Office XP work fine with Vista. Some people complain of
Outlook issues. I run Office XP (no Outlook) on 30 Vista machines with no
issues

Office XP is not officially supported in Vista. Office 2007 and 2003 are.
There are numerous reports of issues in Office XP under Vista.Whether the
issues will affect you? Search Google Groups for "Office XP Vista support"
to get an idea.

The new Vista HP computer I just purchased came with a 60 day free trial of
Office 2007 Home & Student. I am finding I like it so much that I will be
paying the $150 make it permanent. It feels and performs much more
intuitively and has lots of good new features. Give it a try and see how
you like it. I much prefer using software tools that are designed to work
with Vista than trying to shoehorn in older tools.

I got five years out of my old Office XP and I hope to get another five
years out of this Office 2007.

No matter what, you do not have to purchase MS Office 2007. The free
OpenOffice.org should handle your needs.
