Highlighted a word, then key in a new word.

Expected results: highlighted word should disappear and replace by a new
word.

My results: highlighted word not eliminated and the keyed in new word start
to appear in front of that highlighted word.

Fixation: toggled the "Insert" button but the highlighted word disappear
character by character not in one shot.

What wrong with Ms Word? Please help.

Try the microsoft.public newsgroups that specialize in MS Office
applications.. you will be better informed there..

Click the Tools menu, click Options, click the Edit tab, under the heading:
Editing Options, make sure that TYPING REPLACES SELECTION is selected (has a
checkmark to the left of it, if not, click the box to add the checkmark,
then click the OK button). Then open and close Word. Then see if the
problem is fixed. If that doesn't solve the problem, with Word closed,
search your drive for the file Normal.dot (file for default normal document
template) and delete it. Normal.dot will be recreated the next time that
you open Word. The default in Normal.dot is Typing Replaces Selection.

Go to Tools/Options and select the "Typing replaces selection" option.
Remove the check mark from the "Overtype mode" option.
