Office Pro 97

I have Office Pro 97 of which I use Word, Excel, Outlook and Access. I am
quite happy with these programs as they do everything I ask of them. If I
purchased a new computer with Vista OS, would I still be able to use these 4
programs? I ask because I got conflicting information at the computer shop
this morning: someone told me I would have to get Office 2003 and someone
else told me my 97 will install and work just fine. Thanks in advance.

Anything previous to Office 2003 is not fully compatible. They are also not
fully supported any longer, do not get updates from Microsoft and may leave
you computer open to known exploits. There "are" valid reasons why programs
are updated, other than to bring more money into a companies treasury.

Allow me to clarify myself.

you computer open to known exploits. There "are" valid reasons why new
editions of
programs are released, other than to bring more money into a companies
treasury.

Office 97 is not compatible and does not work\install correctly in Vista. This has been discussed numerous times in the Office newsgroups.

Office 2000.2003.2007 work in Vista correctly except for Outlook 2000 which has a wab.dll issue concerning the Address book

I use Office 97 Professional Edition on my new laptop with Vista, and so
far, everything seems to work just fine!

The Outlook portion of Office 97 does not work in Vista.
Everything else works fine.

Naysayers are full of crap!

I have it installed in two of my machines and it works fine in both!
Many have responded who actually use Office 97 in Vista.
You might want to believe them.

But, hey, do what you want.
