Office is not able to check for updates?

When I check for Office updates I get a message telling it cannot check for
updates.

Not all versions of Microsoft Office are capable of checking for updates.
If your version is capable, then ensure that the following criteria are also
met:

1.) You are using Internet Explorer (no other browser works); and
2.) Your computer is configured to enable downloads from the Internet; and
3.) You have pop-ups disabled; and
4.) You did not use a pirated Microsoft Office product key to install
Office.
