Office Hangs When Replying or Forwarding Email

S

SJMP

Office 2003 - it stops responding when I try to reply or forward and email.
The problem is opening Word as the editor. I reinstalled office/ did a
fix/repair of the installation and patched it from Office Updates.

If I tell outlook to stop using word to edit emails the programs works fine.

Any ideas?

If it worked before the sp3 patch, uninstall it. There have been problems
reported with the sp3 fix. Wait until the next version.

Hi SJMP,

Does the issue only occur with some of the messages in Outlook? Please just send a test message to yourself (don't include any
hyperlink). Are you able to forward/reply the test message using Word email editor?

This issue is mostly caused that there is an invalid hyperlink in the email message. Please double check the hyperlinks in the email
message to see if there is "mhtml:mid". If so, please prevent to add the invalid hyperlink when sent out the message. In case that you
always receive such messages with invalid hyperlinks, please don't use Word as email editor to workaround it.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Happy weekend!

Emily thanks for your reply.

But this is happening to more than one email. I need to keep word as the
email editor. As this is for a Partner of the firm and he wants it that way
:(

Anyway. How would I find the hyperlink. I dont see anything in the email
itself. How would I prevent to "add invalid hyperlink when sent out message"

THanks,

S

SJMP

Emily - I did find the mhtml:mid - now how to do I disable outlook 2003 to
prevent "to add the invalid hyperlink when sent out the message."

Thanks,

E

Hi SJMP,

I am sorry but there is not such an option in Outlook to prevent "add the invalid hyperlink when sent out the message." Please ask the
sender not including any invalid hyperlink when sending out messages.

If you get such a bad HTML message again, please remove the mhtml:mid¡ in the message, or temp disable Word as email editor to work
around it. Although this method does not entirely meet your requirements, we are happy to offer it to you as a partial workaround. I
appreciate your understanding.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Emily Lin
