office files apear as read only or encrypted after upgrade to vist

I have just upgraded to vista business from win XP running Office 2003 Pro
and now all of my office files apear as encrypted or read only and i cannot
open them. have tried a repair on office and has made no difference. all
updates are installed. Anyone got any ideas. all office files open ok with
other pc's

Are the files you're trying to access on a different drive or partition?
If so, it may have to do with permission to do any filing to that
drive/partition.
In other words you can open the files, but don't have permission to save
edited files on that particular partition.
 
The files are on our server, some of the files i have created. they are
mainly excel and word files. my other computer logged in as me can open them
ok. the files will not open at all i just get the message encrypted or read
only and if i go past this it then says cannot open file.
