office 2007 install on windows vista ultimate

I purchased a home use office 2007 enterprise edition of office 2007. When I
try to install it on a brand new laptop (ASUS VX2) running windows vista
ultimate 32 bit, Ithe install stops and says a file is corrupt or unavailable.
What file would that be? How to I replace, correct or make file available
so a microsoft product will be able to load on a microsoft operating system?

Exactly what version of Microsoft Office did you purchase? And from
where?
Also retail or OEM?
There is no such thing as "a home use office 2007 enterprise edition"
Enterprise means it is for organizations who are volume users.

OEM gets support from the seller and not Microsoft.
Retail is eligible for Microsoft support.

JJ - "Home Use" is a Software Assurance Benefit where by a large corporate
may make additional copies of it volume licensed office productivity
products available for use by their employee on machines at their homes.
This includes Office System 2007 Enterprise Edition (only available under a
VL scheme).

Mike is correct, purchased thru my company from MS.
Full version Office 2007 enterprise. When I tried to load on computer with
win XP I did not get error. Stopped install to load on my laptop with Vista
and get error, I assume problem is with Vista.

Chas:
You may have to install Office 2007 as an administrator. Instead of
using the auto-run option, explore the disk to right click the setup.exe
file to run as administrator. Have a great day.

OK that makes sense.
Except can individuals purchase that?
The document suggests that employee use is limited to the term of
employment and the Software Assurance license term.
The OP said "I purchased a home use office 2007"
It seems the license is temporary at best although the employer has no
responsibility to enforce other than notify when the license is no
longer valid.

That's correct and the norm.
It is also fairly common that little resources are dedicated to notification. I've yet to see, read, or hear of failure to install and reactivate at a later time.

Similar to university supported programs(born by the university or endowed by other funds e.g. alumni) the cost for a full suite for Office 2003 and 2007 is very low. I'm familiar with two...corporate and edu provided where the cost ranges from $25 to 65. Very economical perk!

First, when I say "I purchased" it means my company has a home use agreement
with MS and I use a code supplied by my company and go to MS web page to
order office 2007 for $20. It is purchased leagally. Why the CD will not
load on windows vista is beyond me. I tried the run as administrator right
click - same result. File is corrupt or unavailable. What File? Is it a
Windows Vista file? A Windows installer file? A problem with DVD drive?

Got office to load, but not from CD.
Used WinRAR program to archieve files to HD and ran install from HD.

MS should do something about quality of their DVD's and installation to win
vista ultimate.

If you got it to read, it is unlikely is is a problem with the DVD.
Why not simply copy the data to drive and bypass WinRar?
That seems like an unnecessary step?

I seem to have the exact problem that Chas is experiencing - with Office
Enterprise Edition (Home Use) on Asus Notebook under Vista Business.

I have copied files to Hard Disk but get the same error when I try to
install - not quite sure the logic behind the WinRAR approach suggested
here.

I am wondering if there is a part of the Asus platform that might be causing
problems

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Why not simply copy the data to drive and bypass WinRar?

For anyone who is experiencing similar problems, mine have been solved.

Don't know if this is simply coincidence but the Nero InCD service that was
pre-installed on the Asus Notebook encountered an error and shut down.

I thought 'what the heck', put the Office Enterprise disk in
again....voila! insallation package ran without a problem.

Hope this proves useful to others.

Did any one get a resolution for this?

Within the last week I also ordered and recieved from MS a copy of Office
Enterprise 2007 through the Home Use Program and it will not load on a tower
machine with XP Pro Service pack 2 fully up to date.

Other internet suggestions were to use Administrator, well I was.
Try running it under Add Programs from the control panel. same result
Try copying it to a directory and running it from there. Received Cyclic
redundancy check errors on about half of the holders on the DVD.
I have never had success trying to copy to an ISO version in the past so I a
reluctant to try that one.

Now for a "new factory DVD" it is not in perfect shape. That might explain
the cyclic error but the missing DLL when I can use explorer and see the file

Which version of Nero?
Mine is the old 6.1.13 I think. It is no 7.0 or later and my problems are

pre-installed on the Asus Notebook encountered an error and shut down.

I thought 'what the heck', put the Office Enterprise disk in
again....voila! insallation package ran without a problem.

Sounds like a different issue - I thought mine was Vista related

In any case, my setup is
Nero Express 7.5.13.0
InCD 5.5.0.11

For anyone who is experiencing similar problems, mine have been solved.

Don't know if this is simply coincidence but the Nero InCD service that was
pre-installed on the Asus Notebook encountered an error and shut down.

I thought 'what the heck', put the Office Enterprise disk in
again....voila! insallation package ran without a problem.

Hope this proves useful to others.

If you got it to read, it is unlikely is is a problem with the DVD.
Why not simply copy the data to drive and bypass WinRar?
That seems like an unnecessary step?

Got office to load, but not from CD.
Used WinRAR program to archieve files to HD and ran install from HD.

MS should do something about quality of their DVD's and installation
to win
vista ultimate.
