my in-laws bought me office 2003 powerpoint two months ago, which since that
time we have been out of town and then have moved. my computer crashed and i
had to reboot almost every thing. when it came to putting in the 25
character code for the powerpoint I couldn't find the disk container with the
number on it. does anyone know how to get a new number or how to get into
powerpoint without it? I don't have the money to buy a bew disk or pay the
charge to the tech's. Thanks

Hi Thomas

by far the best way is to contact the nearest Microsoft head office to you,
whichever country you are in and explain the situation. You may need a high
resolution image of the disk to e-mail or you may need to send the disk to
them for verification but they should be able to provide you with a new
license key, especially if you can find the purchase receipt (ask the
in-laws).

I have done this myself with an Adobe product and they were as helpful as
can be and as a registered Microsoft OEM System Builder, I have always found
Microsoft to be very helpful as well. The mistake most people make is not
contacting them and they end up making illegal copies which does not help
anyone in the long term.

Be patient when dealing with Microsoft and always take the name of the
person and any designation he/she may have as well as a call reference number.
