Office 2000 Small Business after Win 98 to XP upgrade?

OS upgrade went OK (with minor hassles) but all the Office 2000 Small
Business applications (pre-installed by Dell originally) are not shown as
installed any more. All the executables are still there but they won't
execute, aren't listed under Add/Remove Programs, etc.. At first, this didn't
worry me as I am also planning to run the Office XP upgrade but now I'm
wondering (a) will it work if it can't find the old apps and (b) even if it
does, will it clear out all the old apps. Of course I could just try it and
see but I'm a tad cautious so I thought I'd share with you guys first. TIA.

Thanks Carey. I gather from this that I need to re-install Office 2000, which
I can do from the shrinkwrapped CDs that shipped with my Dell way back when.
I must add however that the article you directed me too is a bit perplexing.
It seems to suggest that the XP CD is only good for a new install, but I
definately purchased the upgrade product and the Start Here booklet it
contains says I can choose simply to Upgrade, which (is what I thought) I
did. It's just possible I booted from the XP CD without realising it, I
suppose...
