I have a system that I've upgraded from windows & office 2000 to XP Pro.
Since then loading a word doc takes almost a minute instead of just
poping up. Ocasionally the entire system just freezes for 10 - 20
seconds. I have Norton and have always maintained a virus free system so
what gives? How do I fix this?

Cheers

Open control panel >Administrative tools > Event viewer :-here you look
for error logs and proceed accordingly or let me know.

Nothing unusual there.

None of the items there appear to do anything but I did notice that I'm
using relatively old device drivers on a network printer. I shall try to
fix that and install local device drivers.

Steve;
Do what you want. But have a look at the reference to Normal dot. Fixed
it for me.

Maybe that's why MS and most folks recommend that you install new MS
OS's fresh.
