Office '03 - Send/Receive

Using Outlook '03
I am having a problem with sending/receiving emails. I click the
send/receive button and I receive no error messages on the progress window.
The bottom right corner, status bar, says send/receive complete. I have all
my settings correct and I have tested them by using Express. When I put the
same account info into Outlook Express and hit send receive, all the messages
are downloaded into the program. I've checked the server and no large,
blocking emails are there holding up the flow. I've closed and restarted the
program as well as my computer. I don't know what else to try. Any help is
appreciated.

Enable logging in Outlook and then post the contents of the OPMLog.log file.

Is this a POP/SMTP account? I infer from your statement about Outlook
Express working that it is.

What puzzles me in the log is this:
2005.05.27 12:56:10 pop3.nuvox.net (1): UploadItems: 0 messages to send

occurring twice, followed by this:
2005.05.27 12:56:44 pop3.nuvox.net (1): UploadItems: 1 messages to send
2005.05.27 12:56:44 pop3.nuvox.net (1): UploadItems: couldn't send 1
messages

Also occurring twice.

Do you have any antivirus or antispam software scanning either incoming or
outgoing mail? Do you have a firewall enabled? I don't even see where your
Outlook even tried to connect to either an incoming or outgoing server.

Something else to try is to delete the account in Outlook and then import
your account settings from Outlook Express with File>Import and
Export>Import Imternet Mail Account Settings. If that doesn't help, I'd be
inclined to create a new mail profile in Control Panel's Mail applet and
start over, reusing the existing PST if it contains something of value, or
creating a new one if it doesn't.

Yes, it is a POP/SMTP account.

I use McAfee, and I can only assume it scans them incoming and outgoing. No
message appears telling me so, as with Norton. And the McAfee virus program
tells me that there is a firewall detected, no mention of it being enabled.

I have deleted and imported the account from Outlook Express, but no success
there, same issues.

I found the profile lists but it's the same thing I've been changing. I'm
at wits end with this thing.

Thank you for ALL your help Brian!!

Look in McAfee's options. The settings to scan mail should be there.

What firewall are you using?

Did you create a new profile like I suggested?

McAfee is scanning the emails. I turned this option off to see if this had
any effect and no luck.

It seems that only Windows Firewall is running.

And yes, I created the new profile as you suggested. However, it has the
same result, unless I am leaving something out. It asks for me to just
create the new email account. There's the option of
-Email Accounts
-Data Files
-Show Profiles
When I "Add" a new profile it goes through the steps of adding the new
account to Outlook.

Brian,

You will be happy to know your painful efforts to solve my Outlook woes are
over. I tried, in a desperation attempt, to go through the update process.
Just hoping that some little bug was in the system and perhaps Microsoft had
a patch for it. I ran the update, installed all of the available updates,
and when I opened Outlook, within seconds it was sending the message that I
had sitting in my "Outbox". I was overjoyed after a week over wracking my
brain.

Brian, thanks so much for your efforts and diligence. I've learned a few
more tips and tricks in the whole process that made the problem worth while.
Kudos to you!

MANY THANKS!!!!
Shannon W.

Bad news,

I opened my email this morning and the problem has returned. Back to square
one. I suppose I'll call our computer guy in and see if he can fix the
problem.
