Can anyone tell me if the ads for OEM versions of the
software (ie Mirosoft Offie Pro at $50)at very low prices
are valid. They claim that they come with a valid code to
register - no fancy boxes -

Greetings --

These aren't likely to be legitimate products, if the prices are
so ridiculously low, but it's impossible to tell without more
information. Who, precisely, is making this offer?

Someone traced the web page down through all the diversions and came up with
an operation in RU. So far no news from MS on the sweat shop. They've been
operating now for several months so I guess the product is legal however,
don't expect any updates or support from MS.

I would guess that the operation is NOT legal, and may very well be a
scam. It only takes a few suckers to make a scam worthwhile, and a .ru
domain is pretty much out of reach of any possible legal action.

Greetings --

Just read the FAQs on those web sites convinces me that the offer
is _not_ legitimate. How can a product be both OEM and a full retail
version simultaneously?

The webpages

padla-soft.biz, low-cost-cd.biz, oem-cdroms.biz,oem-cd.biz,
oem-discounts.biz, best-soft.biz, ezprosoft.biz, ez-oem.biz,softname.biz,
oem-cheap.biz, sale-oem.biz,oem-sale.biz, oem-free.biz, softforlive.biz,
softwareforlive.biz, x-discounts.biz, awesomesoft.biz etc etc

have been hosted through hijacked proxies on residential ADSL/Cable/Dial-up
connections. Also several other servers have been hacked by this gang.

So this software is offered by criminals. Probably you will not get anything
after ordering (except for a bill from your creditcard company).
