OE6 ID Switch Problem

One more try before I give up. When I try to switch email
IDs in Outlook Express, the program closes and will not
open until I restart my computer. I've tried the
following suggestions:
1) Check to see if all critical updates are installed -
They are.
2) Reinstall critical updates - Can't because the
installer doesn't recognize Sp1 and doesn't allow for
mannually locating it . . . error says it can't continue.
3) Search to see what other programs are open when I try
to install and see if they are causing the problem -
They're not.
4) Switch the 'open with' ID then close program and
reopen OE. It won't reopen and doesn't fix the quick
switch problem, anyway.
I've seen other queries about this same problem and
workable no solution. Knowledge Base article says to try
#4 (above) as a workaround if critical update #q331923
doesn't help. Does anyone have a solution to this problem.

This group is for the support of Windows XP - a Microsoft Operating System.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number. Good luck!

I'm quite aware that Windows XP is a Microsoft Operating
System. As well, I'm aware that this support group is for
Windows XP. That's why I've come here to post my query.
I've tried with the help of the MVPs at 'Basic' to solve
this problem. We just haven't found the solution, yet.

I've been to an OE newsgroup only to be told to go to
the XP operating system help groups. This IS Sp1 for
Windows XP problem. For some reason, Windows XP is not
recognizing that Sp1 is installed on my computer.
Therefore, I cannot reinstall software such as q331923
which is a critical update for my Windows XP OP (that's
Microsoft Windows XP operating system). In the Knowledge
Base for Windows XP there is are several articles that
address issues with OE.

If the responder is an MVP, I wish to thank you for all
the efforts you have made to try to help me with this
problem within the past two weeks. If you are not, then
don't let it bother you that I took up a small amount of
space at this support page.

Microsoft Operating System.

if you had gone to www.insideoe.tomsterdam.com as I recommended in my reply
to you , you would have found this:
http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/problems/bugs.htm#noswitch

And it is STILL an OE problem, NOT a windows problem.

Gordon, you don't know nothing about the problem I'm
having with my Windows XP (a.k.a. Microsoft Windows XP
operating system). MVPs at 'Basic' have been helping me
with it. Now, don't respond to any more of my queries,
ever. My problem has been solved. It was a Windows XP
problem related to a bad file in my Sp1 download. Go bug
someone else, because I outa here.
