OE6 Address Book won't open

I'm using Windows XP Home SP2 with Ooutlook Express 6. It
is a new computer (purchased through HP).

I'm having difficulties using OE6. Originally, when
opening a password-protect dialogue box came up asking
for the password of a Personal Folder file I didn't use.
If I pressed Cancel, when attempting to access my Address
Book a popup declared: "Unable to open the Address Book.
The Address Book may not be installed properly."

I figured this is an Outlook clash so I created a new
Personal Folder file in Outlook that is unencrypted, and
has no password protection. This cleared up the dialogue
box. However, I keep getting the same message when I try
to access the Address Book.

I've tried uninstall/reinstalling OE6 (through Add?remove
Windows Components) to no avail. I even renamed the .wab
file as one KB article recommends for an earlier OE
version, but OE6 doesn't seem to have created a new .wab.

So now I have no .wab and OE6 won't let me use contacts.

Any ideas? Please send to my email in addition to
posting, if it's not an inconvenience. Thank you very
very much.

This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
outlook express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x

A good website for information on OE is:

My apologies, I wasn't aware! (It has the word "Outlook"
in the name, so that was my first instinct).

After mining the resources on tomsterdam.com I solved the
problem. Thanks for your help!
