I frequently send urls to friends. Unfortunately they often arrive having
lost the highlighting/underlining and have to be copied and pasted before
they work.

Has anybody else found this and is there a cure please?

John.

It would be helpful to know how you are sending these URLs. If they are in
the body of an e-mail, which program are you using?

They are in the body of an email and I'm using Outlook Express in Windows
XP.
When they arrive they frequently have to be copied and pasted to bring back
the underlining etc. Then they work.

John,

Hi John,
Do you use the Hyperlink Transfer Protocol (HTTP://) or just the World Wide
Web (WWW) in the link?.
If you are using the HTTP://, then try this:
Open a Run Command and type in the box:
regsvr32 urlmon.dll click [OK] and then Reboot your machine and see
after restart if the Link will open Okay in the body of the message without
copy and paste.
HTH.

I am sending them in emails, not receiving them. Most people have no trouble
but one friend does and he keeps sending them back to me. I make sure the
url is on its own line and send it back and it works.

He is on AOL which isn't exactly a good place to start but in this case I
don't think it's their fault.

OE hacks off a link if it's too long. But the rest of the problem is
with AOL. He can set his browser to make click-able links from URLs
somewhere in the AOL settings, probably those for email.. Still, you
may be able to convince AOL to read the URLs by inserting them like so:

<a href="http://www.groups.google.com">Click Here</a>
