OE Toolbar/Menu List

I cannot get any of the icons in the Tool Bar (Spell
Check, Copy, Cut, Paste, etc.) to work. They are all
greyed out. Have tried the index search, the toolbar
fixes, everything. Can anyone help?? This is Outlook
Express in Windows XP.
