OE timing out

My OE accounts worked fine untill two days ago, then stopped, and kept timing
out, at that time i had just downloaded a windows update. Checked all
settings, so done a restore, and its worked fine again, no problems, untill i
downloaded the windows update again, and now its times out again.
Co-incidence? any ideas
xp home sp2, norton 05

Read some backdated posts, and tried some of the examples given, finally
found that turning on the spam feature in norton 05 has worked, it now scans
through like a hare. Can't understand after working so long this happens.
Hopes this helps anyone in similar predicament...
