OE barring access to my own word files

I have just purchased a new Dell computer and Outlook
Express is loaded on it.

Problem is, whenever I send an email with an attachment
(eg like a word document I have written) I receive the
following message when I try to access the document.

'OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments
in your email'

Is there any way around this? Seems crazy that I can't
open my own word document attachments?
