OE attachment setting doesn't work

When I check "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened ...etc.", it
doesn't take - attachments are still live in a message. If there's a
registry setting for this, I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.

The "etc." is the important part. That setting doesn't prevent
*all* attachments, only those with file types that could contain
a virus--executable files (and Office files that could contain a
macro virus).
