OE 6.0 - Wont Run; now wont load

Hello All,

Environment:
Windows XP - latest Updates
OE6.0
IE6.0 with SP1 and all updates.
Peer Server on a peer to peer WinXp, Win98 Network

Issue:
The following error happens whether on or off the network.
When OE is running it drags the response time of the machine for other
applications eg accounting, excel, way down to 60-90 sec per screen change
an even more to load a new application.
ReInstalled IE6.0 & OE 6.0 and updated, cant uninstall either of these but
reinstall over existing apps.
All seems OK
Open OE check mail OK - retrieves mail from the ISP server.
Try to open mail; get error message "One or more parts of the message could
not be displayed"
- click OK new error message "There has been an error opening this page.
There is not enough memory."
- click OK OE shutsdown.

ReOpen OE try to use the Menu selection drop down menus, most dont activate
eg HELP / ABOUT - nothing
TOOLS / ACCOUNTS - nothing.
TOOLS / OPTIONS - nothing

Attempted Resolution:
Go thru
CONTROL PANEL / ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS / ADD REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS
uncheck OE box and run the process to unattach OE from the Op System.
Repeat the above line but check the checkbox to enable OE to run as part
of the Op System.
Application work until you next use the Dropdown menus to do something
then non - activation of the menus.
At no time can I open the email - just get the error messages as
described above.

Current status OE doesnt load ie not matter how you try to load it, OE
ICON, find the EXE nothing happens.

Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Terry -

This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program, despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:

I don't speak for Smiths, and Smiths doesn't speak for me.

They do make it hard to find, and the name "outlook" makes it confusing!
