Odd window popping up

Hi:

Running windows XP SP1 only as I am concerned about installing SP2.

I've run ad-aware and spybot but can not seem to get rid of some ad windows
that pop open. This one has me stumped.

When I reboot a small "notice" type of window opens asking if I would like
to install an application called winfix or winfixer something like
that. When I select NO 4-5 windows pop open. Yesterday I turned off
activex on IE and the windows only appear every few minutes now instead of
every 30 seconds.

Anyway, what can I check in the registry to see what is loading on boot up?
Can I check the registry BY DATE to see what was added recently? ANy other
ideas?

You need to remove the adware. Mucking around in the registry won't help
you. With adware you frequently need to try many different removers until
you find the one that can successfully remove what you've got. Don't try to
remove it manually - you can't, and you'll only make it difficult (if not
impossible) for the software to help you.

That's well and good, but how does one remove winfixer? It is obviously an
unwanted program, but when it keeps popping up, it becomes a major annoyance.
Which program will remove this unwanted program? Or, just as important, how
does one do it manually?
