Odd taskbar behavior

Hello All

I'm guessing no one will have the answer to this, but it's worth a shot ...

My four-month-old job-issued ThinkPad with Windows XP Professional exhibits
an odd taskbar behavior. I have the taskbar set to hide automatically (I
also have it pulled up all the way - almost half the screen size so that I
can use it as a launcher) . But when I print on the office network, the
taskbar opens and stays open until the printing is completed, an especially
difficult problem if I'm printing several long documents. I have to drag it
down to its smallest size so I can keep working while printing and then drag
it back up when printing completed and it resume auto hide. Anyone have any
idea why it does this?

Thanks.

Thanks JS, I was wondering if that might be it. Any way to suppress that
that you know of?

Right click on an empty area of the Taskbar, select Properties, Check the
Hide inactive icons box, then click the Customize button.
Next scroll down the list of Current Items and the Past Items till you find
the entry related to your printer, click on the named of this item and then
you will see a pulldown appear on the right side of the entry you clicked
on. Select 'Always hide' then click the OK button and the Apply button.

No promises but see if it works.
