odd scrollbar behavior

I am noticing lately that when I click the scrollbars in IE 6.0.2800.1106
the page jumps quite a lot. It goes well past the area I last read and I
have to scroll back up to continue. I have also noticed that it jumps way to
the right if I click a right/left scrollbar. In other words, my scroll bars
have become pretty much useless. I am showing lots of updates installed but
the three with the highest numeric values and appearing at the end of the
list (which I would assume are the most recent) are Q822925, Q824145, and
Q828750.

Any help is appreciated.

This behavior is caused by a bug in a recent IE patch (Q824145). MS is supposedly aware of this bug and we can only hope that a future patch will correct it.

Some workarounds:
Use PageUp and PageDown keys
Use keyboard shortcuts; Spacebar to scroll down and Shift+Spacebar to scroll up.
