Odd problem with user accounts and internet explorer

Hi

I am having an odd problem with internet explorer refusing to work
with the www.google.co.uk site on the the original default account on
my new HP pavilion PC and another account I created for my wife. It
just sits there and does nothing, refuses to update although other
sites work just fine.

I created another account for myself, identical to other two, which
shows no such problem, connects to www.google.co.uk , everything quite
normal, does all the searches no problem.

Quite puzzled.

Any suggestions.

TIA

could this be something to do with internet explorer settings. i believe
that they are user specific. check that you dont have a proxy selected on
the accounts.
does www.google.com work?
can you ping www.google.co.uk - it should resolve to 66.102.11.104 or
someting close.
clear in IE cache.

just some thoughts.

Yes ping www.google.co.uk resolves to 66.102.9.104
www.google.akadns.net and www.google.com to the same address, but
neither give any response as a web page, just sits there.

Switch accounts ping gives same results but I now get a response
google searches ??. Tried clearing cache, can't see anything obvious.
