Odd mouse behavior

I recently noticed my right click mouse button does not
bring up a context menu on one window only, the `All
Programs' window in XP. Previously, I could right click
this list and arrange the listings but now I get just a
flash of the `Start' window behind the list. Also right
after bootup or a reboot I can move desktop icons but
before long I can move them but they jump back to their
previous position when releasing the left mouse button.
I've scanned for viruses, adware & spyware. Any ideas
appreciated.

Could be that your mouse driver is corrupted. Try reinstalling the the
driver file and see if that fixes it.

XP did `forget' about my optical mouse and drivers, a
reinstall did not change the action. I also updated the
drivers but no help. It might be associated with XP
updates, however. I'll keep trying, Thanks.
