I apologize for the duplicate posts in ie6.browser and network-web (as
well as to the ie5 group which was a mistake), but the crosspost didn't
work correctly.

When browsing certain pages bits of the html source seems to have been
edited away.

For instance, this link has several javascripts, one of which will launch
a streaming window

http://www.atomgruppen.se

However, every single time, using IE6 or Opera7.23 the same bit of the
source code is missing.
There is a line that should say something with
thePlayer= ...
where ... is a link and some window info, but in my source it always says
thePlayer=
m);

Lot of blank space ending with "m);" which is in fact the last characters
of the real source.

Anyone got the faintest idea of what is happening here?
If it was only www.atomgruppen.se I could live with it, but it also
affects windows update, never ever displaying the search for updates link.

I tried doing a reinstall of Windows XP ontop of the old one, but that
made no difference.
I did however try Norman Virus Control and Internet Security that caused a
similar problem in Opera in one page when the firewall was running at max
security, where only half the page seemed to be downloaded, abruptly
ending mid javascript. Disabling the firewall let the full page through.
Uninstalling this program made no difference either.

Any idea at all?

I can't help you with this problem, but crossposting isn't that great of
an idea either. Multi-posting is even worse. It's better to pick ONE
group and try, if there is a more appropriate group someone will say so.
You just have to be patient.

I couldn't agree more, but I don't have the time to afford patience. (If
I don't get an indication that this can be fixed withing 12 hours I will
be forced to to a complete wipe :(
I never crosspost, which is why I couldn't get it to work (not sure how),
but it would be preferable to multi post since people could see answers in
all group.

That's true about crossposting, but one reason I don't like it because I
don't want any replies of mine showing up in groups I'm not subscribed
to and it annoys me a bit to have to delete the other group names in
order to reply.

In my experience here if someone knows the answer you'll usually get one
the same day here, sometimes within minutes.

Steve

For anyone interested. I solved the problem by creating a new windows
account. Some personalized file or registry stuff must have gone corrupt.
