odd application installed without permission

Hello,
I turned my computer on this morning and a weird little
window appears on my desktop. It does not showup on the
taskbar. It is titled "Search the Web". It has no
close/minimize buttons. It has a text field and a go
button as well as a list of top searches.

I never installed this application. When I go to my
Add/Remove programs control panel, the application is not
listed to remove. It doesn't even show up in my task
Manager.

Does anyone know how to remove this annoyance? And how
could it possibly have gotten there?
