ODBC Data Sources Problem

I tried to remove a DSN for a product that was no longer installed on my
computer using the ODBC Data Source, DSN tab, Remove. When I click remove I
receive the following two messages:

The setup routines for the Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) ODBC driver could
not be found. Please reinstall the driver.

Errors found
Component not found in registry.

Does anyone know what causes this error and how to correct it? I use Vista
Home Premium.

The uninstall of the application removed what was needed but left the DSN
entry, if that's what you did was uninstall the application. The DSN is only
a pointer that the O/S and application uses to access the application's data
source.

It's not there to be found or removed.

Sometimes the uninstall of an application will leave fragments of things
that the software developer may have forgotten to remove. What you're
talking about is a DSN that the application installed that is no longer
pointing to anything.

You could go into the registry and hack it out, but I don't advise that.

My advice is that if it's not affecting anything else running on the
computer, then leave it alone.

In other words, if it has not broken anything else running on the computer,
then you don't fix it.
