October 2003 cumulative patch

D

I am using IE6 SP1 and Outlook2002 on XP Home SP1.
All Sept I have received e-mails to install the 'September
2003 cumulative patch' for IE6 and Outlook. I wouldn't
exagerate to say 30 -40 notifications {but from a variety
of MS senders). Now the October 2003 notifications are
arriving. Because the attached file Installer.exe is
an .exe, naturally it is blocked by IE6, so I have finally
decided to download it directly from the MS site.
1. I have been searching the MS download site for this
file but can only find August 2003 Patch. Where can I get
it.
2. How do I stop these notifications? I am not sure what I
did to initiate them in the first place.
3. If I run the Windows Update from the Help and Support
menu will it identify this as a patch I need?

1. Microsoft does not send out patches.
2. Those messages are not from Microsoft. (Check the headers.)
3. Those messages are being sent by people whose computers are infected with
a worm or virus.
