Four new updates are showing up and I have gone into my Marathon Man mode.
:)
When you go to the technical details, the list of programs that are affected
only shows the 64 bit XP although further reading seems to indicate that all
XP systems need them. Are these updates for all XP systems?
Has anyone else installed these and, if so, does your computer still work
OK?
Thanks in advance for the input.
Carolyn

I installed them yesterday anyway. I patch everthing :)
And yes my computer still works.

I have XP Pro. Installed this morning and have rebooted several times since.
Everything's OK.

I installed them all last night, one at a time, via Windows Update. Some
required reboots and some didn't. After that I read and sent email, did a
bit of surfing and played a few games of NHL 2004 before going to bed.
Everything seems fine here on my XP Home system. I do understand your
apprehension, though- not all patches have a happy ending.

Regards,
Ian.

I have XP Pro, have installed them all, and my machine is still purring like
a kitten!

Thanks to everyone for their input. I will get them installed immediately.
So far, with XP Pro, I have not had one problem but it never hurts to be a
bit cautious.

Greetings --

They've caused no problems on my systems.

There is a line
Windows XP Gold; Service Pack 1.

Gold refers to original XP, Service Pack 1 to XP with SP1 - not all
updates are needed for both, these ones are

Is there a non-original XP? Serious question, honest. My computer came
installed with XP Home with SP1. Does that mean it's "Gold"?

I saw that notation for the XP Gold but had no idea what it meant. Thanks
for the explanation.
I installed all the updates and my system is running great.

Some have reported on the video newsgroups that they mess up certain video
editing programs, particularly AVID, so if you use these programs it's worth
backing up before installing them
