I get an error message stating OCR software application is needed and I can
install it from my CD. I did not get a CD with my A940 All-In-One Printer.
I do not know where to get this application from. Can some one please help

A good application to convert images to Word is OmniPage Pro.
Have a look at http://www.nuance.com/omnipage/

When you scan a printed page, you get a picture of that page. That's very
different from the text on the page, and you can't just enter it into a word
processing program and expect to get editable text. To convert your picture
to text, you need what's called "Optical Character Recognition" (OCR)
software. Such software usually does less than a perfect job of identifying
the words within the picture, but the better ones have a reasonably high
degree of accuracy.

There are several good OCR products available, but I believe that none of
them are free.Personally I use and like one called OmniPage Pro.

If you did not get one with your scanner, you will have to buy one. OmniPage
Pro is good.

You can download the software from Dell, just look for your
scanner model/software

You may want to look on the Office CD that you installed Word from. If
you didn't buy a copy of Office that has Microsoft Document Imaging with
OCR, AND you didn't get a copy of OCR software with your scanner, well
you might have to buy some.

Contact the manufacturer of the All-in-One device. No one else can
help you.
