Occasionally unable to save in Word 2003

One of the users in our office is having a problem with Word 2003. At
random times she is unable to 'save' the document. She can do a 'save
as' but not a save. When she tries to do a 'save' it comes up as a
'save as' instead. This is on already saved documents NOT new
documents. Of course new documents would prompt for a 'save as'.

In addition if you try to save through the 'save as' dialog box it
won't save unless you change the name of the file. The files are being
loaded and saved through a redirected My Documents folder onto a SBS
2003 server share.

Good morning,

Are you sure these are Word Documents (.doc) and not Word Templates (.dot)?

You can save over Word Documents but with Word Templates you have to use the
"save as" option and rename the project.
