Occasionally outlook will not send mail to a certain address but .

From time to time Outlook 2000 will not send mail to a given address out from
the outbox, even though it has done so in the past. I have to go to a web
mail to send it without any difficulty. I see no pattern in this behavior.
What is the reason?

My outgoing mail server is SMTP.

One particular address or does it happen to different addresses?

This happens with different addresses but not always with the same address.
I hit "send" and the mail just remains inthe outbox without any error message

Do you have any anti-virus or anti-spam software scanning your outgoing
mail? If so, turn that feature off.
 
I will turn off the antispam and antivirus programs the next time that
happens and see if that was the problem.
